Although trained in sculpture and having spent many years working in ceramics, today woodblock printing is my primary medium for exploring new ideas. I like to spend time investigating and revisiting the visual qualities and accidental possibilities of the printed image. The process of translating the idea for a print to a cut woodblock, the ways in which ink is applied and transferred to paper means the image evolves in concert with the voices of the materials used.
I enjoy travelling and many of my pieces are directly influenced by encounters with nature. My inspiration comes from changing light, sculptural trees and trying to capture a sense of time in my work.
